Cool visual component, easy to use interface
The ads ruin the experience a bit, a lot of features are locked behind a paywall
Does anyone actually get excited about things like alarm clock apps? Probably not. Is there even a reason why anyone would want to swap out their stock alarm clock app for something else? Actually, yes! My Alarm Clock for Android is an app that might make some people switch over. It doesn't do anything drastically different from many other alarm apps, but it does give users something different to look at.
The biggest draw for using this app is that it acts like a good old fashioned alarm clock would--it allows you to display a clock that can persist throughout the night. That means you can flip it on, stick your phone on a dock (or whatever else you have) and you've suddenly got an alarm clock circa 1995. It displays the time, weather information, and a small banner ad periodically. I'll be honest, though. The banner ad definitely subtracts a bit from the apps aesthetic, not that it looks great, but it's still annoying to see one pop up. You can upgrade to the "pro" version of the app which eliminates this problem.
If you're not totally sold on the way your clock looks then you have a few options you can choose from. The digital clock remains pretty much the same but comes in various colors, and there is a free analog face. There are also three other faces that can be used but, again, you'll need to purchase the pro version of the app to gain access to them.
Aside from the overall aesthetic change, the app behaves pretty typically of what you'd expect. You can do a few things like enable an auto snooze, but there aren't any key features like alarm sync.
Basically, if you're looking for something you can set on your nightstand then My Alarm Clock has you covered. It's visual component is the biggest selling point. If you're just looking for something different then this might scratch that itch, but it doesn't do anything drastic.
