Review Wallapop - Buy & Sell Nearby

Brandon Girod
7.3Good
Very clean interface, lots of different options, easy to use
Filter options aren't as expansive as I'd like, there is no way to buy straight off the site
Here's the deal: everyone really likes to shop, some people are just really picky about what they're shopping for. And maybe not everyone likes to go shopping every week. Wallapop for Android is an app that is similar to Craigslist without all of the weird personal stuff that gets in the middle. It's simply a vessel that allows you to search for local items people are selling, and puts you in contact with them so you can buy it. Likewise, you can just as easily be the seller by listing stuff you want to sell.
Opening up the app for the first time will present you with a simple view of items within a set distance. Originally, mine was defaulted to everything within a mile of where I was, so when it says local, it means local. Unfortunately, this app hasn't quite caught on in my area, so there were very few items and it quickly scoped out a larger area.
Finding items on here isn't exactly what I would consider easy, though. There are some categories, there is a built-in search function, and there are even curated lists based on themes that all look very nice. But if I'm looking for something like a computer part or a cell phone, I'll be stuck with the "electronics" category, which lumps a ton of items into one place making it complicated to sift through.
Likewise, the buying and selling process is equally shallow. Want to be a seller? Take a photo of what you're selling and then wait for someone to message you through the app. If you find a bite then the ball is in your court from there because the app only acts as a vehicle to connect sellers with buyers. No transaction is made through the site, so both parties are still at risk for getting scammed once a transaction is set to take place.
Wallapop looks good from the outside, but once you open the app up, you realize there really isn't a lot here. Depending on your area, your shopping options may be very limited, transactions must still take place in person, and are arranged between seller and buyer, and Craigslist is still a better option. Yeah, I just said that.
