Non-elaborated interface, old fashioned design
ASOS for Android is a cool shopping app with a little something for everyone, be it trendsetter or bargain hunter. The app functions in both portrait and landscape modes, though I found it just felt more intuitive and better suited for portrait. The app opens to reveal a vertically scrolling interface, populated with high resolution images and minimal text, denoting the current promotions being offered.
The app is for both men and women and you have to select which gender you'd like to browse from the slide out drawer on the left. The drawer also contains all the categories offered, which is quite an exhaustive list. Just some of the selections include, new in clothing, new in shoes, new in back in stock, last chance to buy, outlet up to 70% off, accessories, bags & purses, beauty, sweaters & cardigans, lingerie & sleepwear, and jewelry & watches.
Once you select a category you'll see another vertically scrolling list, populated with high quality thumbnails laid out in two columns. Tapping any picture takes you to the full product details, which includes sizing options, item details, and purchase options. You'll need to create an account to complete purchases, but you can streamline the process by using your Facebook login credentials.
ASOS isn't for everyone, and the prices can be quite expensive, however, bargains can still be found if you look hard enough for them.
