Review Where the hell are you?

Interesting functionality, simple design
Limited features, needs to be elaborated, glitches
Where the hell are you? is a GPS map location service app that places waypoints on an interactive map, denoting the location of two consenting callers. The idea behind this one, is to make it easier to locate friends and family you're chatting with, which the app boasts might be useful at a festival, or perhaps even an amusement park. Personally, I find those to be rather thin justifications for an app like this. You're already holding a phone, can't you just talk to the other persona and say, "meet me at the big tree" or something to that effect? In my experience, GPS isn't exactly accurate to the last inch, so at some point, you'll have to look up from your device and actually use your own brain, eyes and some much needed common sense.
The app doesn't actually do much of anything, other than pinpointing your GPS location on a map. It's also plagued by the longstanding Android glitch of having your screen blink and strobe while on a call; you know the one, it's when your screen keeps flickering and goes dark the instant you try to hit the speaker button, and you get to play tag trying to hit that dang thing before the screen blanks out again. So I ask you, is this really a game you want to be playing while looking for someone? And, other than being nosy, who attends that many festivals that an app like this is truly imperative and needed?
Where the hell are you? is one of those apps that sounds better on paper than it actually is in reality. Sure, it's a novel idea, but not every idea merits being an app. Just because you think it, doesn't mean it needs to be made, let alone serves a pragmatic function. Besides, doesn’t Hangouts sort of do all this already?
