Interesting functionality, simple interface, simple design
Minimum of 25 Facebook friends, old fashioned design, internet connection required, is lagging
Nuzzel: News From Your Friends for Android has its sights set on delivering all the news that's fit to print, as curated by your friends and acquaintances. The app culls Facebook and Twitter to find stories and articles posted and shared by your friends, and places them into a simple RSS reader for easy access when the mood hits.
Nuzzel: News From Your Friends displays in both portrait and landscape to deliver a fairly old school looking blog, only this one is unwittingly curated by your social networking friends. You'll need to sign up for an account by connecting your Facebook and Twitter accounts and granting this app permission to access both timelines. From there, the app will cull all shared stories your friends are posting and place everything into one unified timeline where you can browse and read at your leisure. If you're only connecting your Facebook account, then be aware you will need a minimum of 25 friends for the app to function, so loners are not welcome here.
The app looks very dry and old school in its presentation, placing plain text on a stark white background. The list of stories can be scrolled vertically, and features the story headline, the first sentence or two of the story, along with a small thumbnail. Tapping any of the stories takes you to the actual source on the net, with predictably laggy performance and load times. The main interface also features sharing and comment icons for easy access.
Nuzzel: News From Your Friends is an interesting idea, however, it won’t work for everyone. You need a large fan base with lots of friends you follow for it to truly be effective.
