Interesting functionality, nice interface, stylish design
Limited features, weak functionality, lags a bit
Honeycomb Launcher for Android aims to give your droid a whole new look and feel. If you're bored with your stock launcher, this one offers a modestly innovative alternative that's clean and intuitive.
Honeycomb Launcher places all of your icons and most frequently used apps onto a honeycomb interface; bet you didn't see that coming. The app purports to allow you to access any of your phone's functions in 3 seconds or less, and that's true, provided you put in the legwork before that mythic 3 second clock starts counting. Naturally, you are meant to use this all as a replacement for your default home screen, but you can also just use the floating launcher icon alone, though at the cost of losing much of its functionality.
The app places a small floating launcher icon on the right edge of your screen, which looks like 3 little conjoined hexagons that create a small portion of a larger honeycomb. The launcher icon stays visible atop all windows for convenient return access; just tap the icon to bring up your honeycomb home screen. Alternatively, you could also just click your phone's home button; imagine that!
The app will work best for you only if you take the time to select what icons appear on the honeycomb. Just enter the app's settings pages to make your selections, along with alternate colored themes and a few other modest tweaks. It's all very easy, but personally, it really does nothing to make my navigation faster. I can already reach most any function I want in 3 seconds or less, so I fail to see the upside of this one.
Honeycomb Launcher is perhaps best suited for power users with loads of apps they use frequently; otherwise, it's much ado about nothing.
