Interesting graphics, interesting plot, quality game play
Unbalanced difficulty, very common, low quality animation
Paranormal Escape for Android, as you may have gleaned from the title, is an escape the room game with a haunting theme. Find objects, solve the riddle then escape to the next room and do it all over again. This one has some genuine heebie-jeebies but remains rather predictable.
Paranormal Escape displays in landscape to present a somewhat creepy escape the room game. You're a rookie agent whose mission is to explore various locales that have reported paranormal activity. Think of yourself as a CSI detective for ghosts, ghouls and spirits. Each locale brings something new to the table, and all you gotta do is poke and prod the scene to search and explore your environment. Areas that require further study zoom up on the scene to offer a closer look. From there, you may need to compete in a mini challenge, puzzle or find objects that offer clues or can be combined with other objects to reveal something hidden or trigger an action. The play is rather cookie cutter but remains fun none the less.
The controls are simple and uncomplicated, using screen taps to deliver the goods. The graphics are quite nice, with good details and a nice color scheme that all appears to be had done, then digitally rendered. The animation is basically motion tracking on still images with the occasional sparkle effect. The sounds just might raise your hair on end and effectively added some creepiness to the play.
Paranormal Escape doesn't exactly break new ground, but for diehards of the genre, this one is solid and engaging.
