Review LINK

Jay Feldman
Simple interface, minimalist design
Limited features, old fashioned design, lags a bit
LINK - with people nearby for Android aims to help you make some new friends, and yes, it's ultimately just another watered down dating app for those who don't want the stigma of joining an outright dating app. You can sign up via Facebook, phone number or email; let the games begin.
LINK - with people nearby displays in portrait and functions on phones and tablets. Personally, I opted for the email signup because I wanted to stay private, and therein lies the problem, if people are signing up with email accounts, you really can't trust that they are who they say they are. And we all know the world is brimming with duplicitous people who love cat-fishing just because their real lives are so pathetic that they find it fun to mess with people online. Personally, if I'm going to try and make new friends online, look for love or have real connections, then I want to know it's with a real person and not some shill. Take my profile for example; a total fake for the purposes of just testing this app; convenient for me, not so great if you're here to make lasting friendships, or even modestly real ones.
The app functions quickly throughout, with only minor hangs here and there. The interface is a simple, vertically scrolling selection of thumbnails and minimal text, along with small icons denoting age, love interests and overall mood as depicted by a minuscule emoticon. Tapping any of the entries brings up the user's profile, where you can send direct messages. You can also join groups and start one of your own, so yes, this is indeed about more than just hooking up, though that is a strong element.
LINK - with people nearby is cool enough in its purest form, I guess I'm just a bit of a stick in the mud when it comes to thinly veiled hook-up apps. But like anything, you get out of this exactly what you put into it, so how that experience here unfolds is entirely up to you.
