Review Microsoft Excel Preview

Jay Feldman
Powerful functionality, lots of settings, simple design
Inconvenient interface, lags here and there
Microsoft Excel Preview for Android is a powerful spreadsheet creation app with most all the power and functionality of the full desktop version. Create charts, graphics and tabbed spreadsheets on the go. This is one of those must-have sorta apps for savvy entrepreneurs on the go.
Microsoft Excel Preview is worth checking out, if for no other reason than it's absolutely free. Truth be told, I don't see much difference between this one and Google Sheets. Both offer the same basic functionality, however, Microsoft has the edge so far as brand penetration, so you decide which one is best for you. My recommendation is that you try both and see which one fits your sensibilities. The app features One Drive and Dropbox integration, so you'd do good to log into either account so you can access existing files and save new ones to the cloud. Besides, you can really only browse the app without an account, so you'll have to bite the bullet sooner or later.
The app offers an array of ready-made templates to peruse and view. The fastest way to create stunning documents, is to just tweak one of the templates to make it all your own, however, if you don't mind taking the time to do it, you can certainly create vivid documents from scratch. I was actually quite impressed to see all the desktop functionality available here in a mobile version, however, I found it rather clumsy to create some of the nuanced text effects and presentational elements without a proper keyboard and mouse. I'm used to navigating apps like this with shortcut commands, so I felt a little held back in this mobile environment.
Microsoft Excel Preview is certainly worth checking out. This one has a lot to offer and functions well, once you get past the learning curve.
