Game of Thrones for Android is a new episodic, story driven, point-and-click adventure game based on HBO’s amazing TV show.
The game plays almost identically to other famous games in the genre, such as The Wolf Among us and The Walking Dead. Players are presented with a series of scenes that they can explore, interact with, and move about in. Through their exploration of the world the player gets to meet and interact with important characters and become deeply immersed in both politics and battles. Every single choice that the player makes will somehow impact the overall story. Whether it’s the choice to be rude to a person or to save another’s life, everything will cause ripples that will echo through the story.
Combat is handled through timed events, where the player must use precise and swift taps and swipes in order to avoid blows and deliver his own. It is a fluid experience overall, with little room for mistakes. Some missed timed events may not prove fatal, but instead will branch out the story in a different direction and open up new characters and events.
The story is beautifully crafted and designed to expand upon the already available lore created by the books and TV show. Fans will get to meet well known characters voiced by their own TV show counterparts (such as Peter Dinklage) each with an appearance faithful to the TV show's depiction of them.
Overall, Game of Thrones offers a deep and impacting experience. It is both emotional and captivating, with no shortage of action scenes. For fans the game, it's a gateway to learn more about Westeros and immerse themselves into the intrigues of George R. R. Martin’s world, while still offering plenty of room for those with no prior knowledge of the TV show or books to find enjoyment and intrigue in the story.
