Plenty of features, very few ads in the free version, simple interface, minimalist design
Few customization options
Windfinder for Android is an app designed mostly for those users who partake in any and all wind related sports; such as surfers, windsurfers, sailors and paragliders. It contains much needed weather related information.
The app allows users to search any location they desire and, as long as they have an active internet connection, the app will display information related to: wind speed, direction, air pressure, precipitations, temperature and even wave height. All this can be displayed as a daily forecast or even an hourly report that displays the weather’s hourly evolution in the form of a useful little graph. The app also includes integration with Google Maps so that whenever a certain location is searched, the user has the option of displaying visually on the map. This is especially useful when planning trips to remote locations.
The app comes complete with a fluid and intuitive, albeit mostly dull, interface. Although some personalization would have been nice so that each user can tune the app to be just the way they like it, there is an option to change each unit of measurement to the desired one.
Overall, Windfinder is a decent weather app, even for those users who have no intention of planning any wind related sports; but simply wish to keep themselves informed with all sorts of meteorological information. Although the free version is filled with more information than the casual user will even know what to do with, those looking to add even more functionality, and also remove ads from the app, may wish to opt for the PRO version.
