Review ONE+ Launcher

Kevin Vadala
Looks great, good menus
Doesn't innovate
One+ Launcher for Android is another alternative launcher solution. One+ One is a new smartphone that has come out recently under special access invites. This launcher is from the same team, and while it doesn’t drastically change things on your phone (like most launchers don’t) it does have a few useful tricks up its sleeve.
When you install One+ Launcher you’ll see a new icon pack that looks fairly nice and it's actually bigger as well. You’ll also see that some of your stuff has been organized (mine wasn’t organized very well, with a lot of apps just hanging around outside of their designated folders: like games). When you open apps, it opens up into its own screen, but besides that most everything is fairly simple and relatively unchanged. It takes cues from iOS and looks similar to my previously reviewed, 8 Launcher.
Now lets get onto the different and useful things about the launcher. There are core features inside the launcher, like swipe controls and shortcuts, but there is also a complete redesign of useful accessible settings in the notification panel. Things like a battery percentage bar, a torch (flashlight shortcut), data, wifi, and a "more" icon which takes you to other settings. This whole design, and the way it takes to you to more settings looks great.
One+ Launcher advertises itself a lot on the principle that it's super smooth, and very quick. But for me, I haven’t noticed any increases in speed from this launcher over the main launcher that I use, which is Nova. I think it's a little gimmicky and actually obvious why One+ Launcher feels the need to differentiate itself from other launchers on the homepage download for the app. While it looks different, and has a few extra aesthetic touches, it’s really not that different from other launchers. At the end of the day, you might like the feel of One+ Launcher. But its hard to say if it's the best, or a true improvement over other equally capable launchers.
