Review Narrate

Diary writing feels too formal
Narrate for Android is a simple diary app. Inside the app you can make notes which are entries and then see the entries on your calendar. You can even backup your entries to Google Drive.
Narrate has a good design in most aspects. When you tap the tab, you are given a cool little run down of your diary information. In the top left, there is a teal box that shows how many days you have narrated, with the entries, and how many places. The darker blue tab next to that lets you quickly make a new entry in the journal. Underneath, you can also access your calendar, places, set reminders, and fiddle with some settings like a pass code lock which could be useful. No longer will you have to worry about your mom finding your diary under your bed.
Besides the tab, you have your main journal interface which lists your last entries. There is a small snippet which is useful, and then an icon showing the date. You can even chose to sort your entries.
Displaying your entries looks nice as everything feels simple and open with a dark blue tab at the top and your writing underneath. However, writing inside the journal doesn’t feel so much like writing into a journal but more like setting a reminder for Google Keep or something similar. I think writing in the journal should be the most clean and “journalistic” part of the app, but it feels too logical with all sorts of information at the bottom clogging things up (date, time, location, etc).
Narrate is a simple diary app with a modern feel, but at times, it feels a little bit too modern.
