Decent animation, online multiplayer, unusual game play, simple controls
Difficult to play without in-app purchases
Boy oh boy, it seems as if there are now more trading card games on the app store than there are actual physical trading cards, so finding and picking out a good TCG can be quite hard. Lukcily, Eredan Arena - PVP Battles for Android may just be unique enough to be worth downloading.
Unlike most trading card games, Eredan Arena plays out in portrait mode, and players can fight online opponents casually with just one hand. The mechanics behind this trading card game are fairly simple too, meaning it's easy to get involved at any point of the day because each game lasts just a couple of minutes.
You will be given the choice to pick five different heroes for your deck, each of which will be used every time you fight. In a battle, you can pick each of your five cards once in any order you please, and this allows you to match up your card with similarly powered cards belonging to your opponent. Once you have picked a card, you must use a unique dice roll mechanic to try and roll as many symbols that match the ones shown on your card - rolling more matching symbols will equal more damage to your enemy, and the player who wins will be the person who deals the most damage.
Each of the five cards gets a go every game, so in this sense the game is like a best of five, giving you three to five chances to roll yourself to victory. Besides from the interesting, yet easy to pick up gameplay, Eredan Arena also has a simplistic UI system, and very detailed card graphics. The animations in the game are also on point, and the background music is awesome.
The developers of Eredan Arena - PVP Battles have filled their game with many in-app purchases, but you can avoid these completely by building up your own deck of card slowly but surely over time.
