Atmospheric soundtrack, modern graphics, simple controls
The controls and camera require getting used to
Most top down racing games have become increasingly scarce in recent years, developers instead choosing to focus on 1st and 3rd driving games. Reckless Racing 3 for Android renounces this trend and proves that the top-down perspective is still valid and can be just as fun as others, while beinglight hearted and amusing.
The game features a lot of game modes for the user to enjoy, such as drift, hot lap, standard racing and more. Players can participate in all of these provided that they own the appropriate car for each event. Cars are controlled via the onscreen buttons. The downside to the top-down perspective is the camera, which follows the car without turning to face the same direction, often confusing new users as to which way each directional control will turn them. When taking a break from participating in an exciting race, players can spend some time customizing their ride in the garage. There are not that many customization options available; however they are an entertaining little addition.
Reckless Racing features some of the best graphics available for top-down games. Each environment is well designed and detailed in order to provide the user with a great experience, without taking things too seriously. The soundtrack also fits in really well with the mix of amusing and serious themes that the game successfully blends.
Overall Reckless Racing 3 is a great game that manages to be highly amusing without taking itself too seriously. Each gameplay mode provides additional challenges and makes up for the lack of a multiplayer mode that would have felt right at home with the amusing gameplay.
