Review Ironclad Tactics
A new kind of card game
Author: Vlad Popa

Decent graphics, unusual game play
Dependence on in-app purchases
Ironclad Tactics for Android is a different kind of card game than the ones we are used to. It introduces a new type of tug-of-war gameplay that you can use cards for.
Before each mission players must for a deck of 20 cards to use in that battle. Once the mission has started there are several lanes where the battle is fought by using cards to summon steam powered robots or soldiers by using action points that are generated every round or by capturing objectives. Equipment cards are special weapons or gear that can be given to your units at the cost of action points in order to give them more powerful attacks or a different kind of attack. Players also have the option of using power-up cards, which can repair, issue movement orders and much more to their units. During the course of the level, your opponent will also spawn his own units and the objective becomes to prevent as many foes from reaching the end of the lane, while getting as many of yours into the end zone as possible.
The story is well thought out and displayed to the user in the form of a comic book strip. It is set in an alternate version of the American civil war, where both sides have somehow managed to develop steam powered mechanical soldiers.
Overall Ironclad Tactics manages to stand out among other card game as one of the most unique and fun to play games of the genre. The only downside to it being that after a few missions, each one must be purchased individually through in-app purchases.
