Powerful functionality, various features
Functions slowly, low-quality design, is lagging
McAfee Mobile Security for Android is a full featured antivirus and security app that can help protect your gizmo from attack and malware.
McAfee Mobile Security has been a longstanding, name brand antivirus and security service. I have used it in the past on my PCs and was curious to come back to it after all these years and see how their mobile version stacks up. Truthfully, it doesn't look like much is changed since the 90s when I last used McAfee.
The interface is very dated, and frankly, highly amateurish for a product with such strong brand recognition. The menus are very static and look like something from Windows 3.1. Virtually nothing is pleasing to the eye or invites any sort of interest in exploring what's offered.
I performed a system scan, and it was tediously slow and belabored. Multitasking was virtually impossible because the app sucked up every drop of system resources during the scan and kept my whole system hostage until it was done. As I recall, this was a big reason why I abandoned McAffee to begin with, so nothing much has changed after nearly 20 years; Android or not.
The app features a host of advanced features for a fee, but honestly, it runs so terribly that I wouldn't waste a dime on any of the upgrades.
McAfee Mobile Security is as mediocre on Android as it was on Windows back in the mid 90's. There are so many better antivirus and security apps out there; even the no-name branded ones kick ass over McAffee. Not good.
