Match 3 game with forest creatures

Online multiplayer, lots of levels, addictive game play
Push notifications, glitches
Forest Mania is yet another match three puzzle game. This one has hippos, frogs, mushrooms, rabbits and foxes. So it's a forest theme right? Oh wait, except for the hippos... oh well, never mind, close enough.
Forest Mania pushes Facebook integration centre stage, and on the welcome screen you need to look for a small icon to play as a guest instead. Using Facebook it will bring in photos of your friends playing, and their place in the game, so that you can compete with them directly. This should make quite a good motivator to keep you going. There are pop up ads between each level, but they are easy enough to close, and you aren't forced to watch any videos.
The graphics and sound effects are high quality. It's satisfying to set off a chain reaction of matches, and watch loads of items pop, bounce and sparkle as you collect them all. I did find there were occasional glitches in the game, although they didn't actually interrupt the gameplay.
There is little in the way of innovation in Forest Mania; it's a classical match 3 puzzle game, just like dozens of others out there. There are mud blocks to remove from under items, but this has been done lots of times before. There is a boss mode where you take turns to beat a caveman character. The game also sends you push notifications by default to remind you to come back and keep playing. That's kind of annoying.
Overall though, Forest Mania is fun to play, and there are hundreds of levels to work through, grouped into themed worlds. If you are willing to let yourself and your friends become addicted to it, there's enough here for plenty of idle time-killing.
