Can be used in both portrait and landscape mode, easy access to just a vast collection of articles, lots of real life uses, easy to use
Wikipedia Zero is not available everywhere
Wikipedia is an app that grants users fast and easy access to the world’s greatest, free, open source collection of knowledge. Let’s face it, we have all used Wikipedia at some point in our lives, and now it is available in app form, to simplify the way you search for information. The app has a variety of practical, real life uses, whether you’re working on a paper, creating a presentation or even just researching a subject, the app will help you with a ton of information just about anything.
The app is fairly minimalistic, just like its desktop counterpart. A search bar at the top of the screen, coupled with two menus, one for each top corner, combined with a contextual menu on the search bar make up the only interface you will need, leaving the rest of the screen to be occupied by the information that is being displayed.
Perhaps the greatest feature introduced in the new version of the app is the Wikipedia Zero, a partnership involving Wikipedia and an increasing number of mobile operators to offer free access to articles. As such certain mobile operators agree to drop all data charges for the app, thus allowing a greater number of users access to it. There is even a setting that will let you know if suddenly you are leaving Wikipedia Zero.
Overall Wikipedia for Android is a great app with lots of real life uses. The app works very smoothly and is so simple that anyone can use it right from the start. It easy access to just about any subject: IT, geography, history, art, and much, much more.
