UI could be less confusing
Notification Toggles for Android creates shortcuts to let you adjust your gadget's settings right from the status bar. This is a very efficient use of space, and allows you to access any settings you care to add, very quickly. This makes Notification Toggles a must-try app for any serious Android user.
Let's face it, nobody wants to dig through a dungeon of menus every time they need to adjust their sound profile or screen brightness. Most of us have put at least a few toggles onto our homecreens, so that we can save precious seconds, and instantly see whether our device is on silent mode or not. The trouble is that these Toggles start taking up a fair bit of space on their own, and you begin wonder which toggles you really need. Airplane Mode? Not unless you're a very frequent flyer. WiFi? Just leave it on all the time... except in a battery crisis. WiFi Hotspot? A great feature to have, but how often are you really going to switch it on? When you want to adjust these settings, however, you want to do it fast. So this one lets you put your toggles in the only place where they aren't taking up screen estate - but are also accessible instantly - in the status bar.
Of course, the flip side of this is that your toggles now take up room in your status bar. This could be a little annoying when you have a lot of notifications to work through. Also, depending on your device, you'll probably have this app as a permanent notification icon. Use two lines of toggles, and it's two notification icons. But Notification Toggles has some creative ways around this problem - you can set the icons individually to all black, so that you just can't see them, or to a number to indicate battery level, temperature or the day of the month. I like the way this developer thinks. This really helped to stop setting off my OCD every time I looked at my phone.
Notification Toggles adds a much needed extra dimension to your Andorid, letting you set things up in a way that is best for you. You can have 2 lines of toggles, and add as many as you want - until they are too small to see what they are. You can also add any app that you might want quick access to. Some of the icons are the same, or very similar, so the trick is to hit the sweet spot of having all the settings you want, but none of the redundant ones.
In the end, I settled for 1 line of Notification Toggles to save space, and had the notification icon display the day of the month. I kept my 4 most frequently used toggles on my homescreen (sound profile, brightness, mobile data, GPS) and put 7 less frequently used ones, plus a calculator shortcut, in my Notification Toggles (WiFi, flight mode, Torch, Sync, Battery Usage, WiFi Hotspot, Alarm).
