Dungeon crawling fun

Interesting ability progression, easy to learn, lots of companions and items to collect
No voice acting, levels are too short
Iron Knights may seem like a rather generic action game; however it does manage to bring a few gameplay features that set it apart from the competition. One of these and perhaps the most meaningful is the addition of skills that truly evolve as you upgrade them. Through this mechanic a simple slam attack can trigger an entire barrage of attacks, followed by the release of several projectiles, leading what was once a simple attack to become a devastating tool. Another interesting gameplay element is the addition of the party system. You can have several companion characters fighting alongside your main hero in order to help you save the realm.
The player is thrust directly into the role of a hero, chosen to save the land and defeat the bad guys. The story is decent and enjoyable, despite the fact that the whole chosen hero cliché is a bit played out. What truly bothered me was that over the course of the tutorial the fourth wall was constantly broken. Some may not find an issue in this, yet I personally was a bit bothered that a major character, was telling me where to tap and how to upgrade equipment.
Overall Iron Knights for Android is a fun game to enjoy though it does seem a bit more oriented toward the newer players rather than experienced ones. There are plenty of items and pary members to collect and upgrade and there is little to no learning curve as the tutorial explains almost everything, even how to navigate the unnecessarily complicated menus.
