Decent graphics, interesting plot, one-finger controls
Needs to be elaborated, very common, bores you really quickly
Shadowess for Android is a unique arcade style game. The action is good and the suspense and mystery add to the intensity of play. It might get boring quickly but is still worth a look.
Shadowess takes place in a darkened maze. You are a little blob looking thing, and your objective is to sneak through the dark to the exit. The lighting is dramatic and you have to squint to see through the darkness. Amidst the maze are enemies on patrol, on the lookout for …well … little sneaky blobs like you! Guide your little blob through the maze without being seen by the patrols. They have lights that illuminate the direction they are looking. Guide your little blob through he maze, sneak around corners and whatever you do, don’t let those patrols catch you in their light. If they see you, you’re toast.
The game is actually a little creepy at times. I really felt the angst of not wanting to bee seen, and my gut sank every time they did and started chasing me. They move fast, and it’s almost impossible to outrun the patrols once they are onto you. It’s amazing what a sense of dread it all created; knowing that you couldn't escape once they saw you. Nice effect, but not very fun.
The controls are easy; just swipe a path on the screen and the little blob follows. They have good accuracy and precision, which is essential if you stand a shot of escaping the maze undetected. The tension is actually palpable.
If this game has any flaw, it’s that there isn't enough going on. The sneaking around is fun for a few rounds but soon gets tiresome. However, I think gamers will appreciate the arcade style play.
Shadowess looks good and plays well; it just doesn't have much variance. It’s a good occasional time killer but doesn't merit much more of your attention than that.
