Review Docs To Go - Office Suite

Jay Feldman
6.9Good
Various features, minimalist design
Not powerful enough, low-quality design, old fashioned design, unjustified price
Docs to Go for Android is a full featured office suite, similar to Google Docs and Microsoft Office. You can create Word docs, Excel style spreadsheets and Power Point style presentations all on Android. The real question is: why would you use this over the mainstream name brand apps that are totally free?
Docs to Go has a decent interface, though very old school in look, feel and execution. I like that it’s just the one app for all three types of office documents. Microsoft also contained all this functionality in one app, while Google splits it into 2 separate apps; Docs and Sheets. Creating Power Point presentation son Android is just redundant and silly, IMO.
Docs to Go has been around for a while and has a good reputation. This app is ok and easy to use, but not very modern or contemporary. True, a Word doc is a Word doc, but presentation matters. Generally, Google Docs has a much better interface and more convenient text editing tools. Microsoft is …well …Microsoft, and it’s hard for me to recommend this app over its much more refined and better executed competitors.
There are plenty of sample docs to let you see what this app is actually capable of, but I’m not sold. I think creating documents like this on a tablet is nice for convenience sake, but if you truly want to create a dynamic and good looking document, Android isn't the place to do it. Laptops and computers just offer more power, versatility, and an overall better user experience. I can’t see creating important business docs and spreadsheets on a phone or tablet. No matter how good the app, there are just some things computers do better.
Docs to Go is a decent companion to this tried and true program. However the cost is a little outlandish considering Microsoft and Google both give their apps away for free and they are designed far better. This one is just ok, but I really can’t see why anyone would use this over the name brand freebies. If you want to try an alternative to the mainstream giants, get OfficeSuite 7; at least it looks contemporary.
