Review CCleaner

7.3Good
Minimalist design, no ads
Weak functionality, not powerful enough, old fashioned design, needs to be elaborated
CCleaner for Android is a straightforward cleanup tool for your Android gizmos. Clean cache, uninstall unwanted apps and free up space so you can download more junk.
CCleaner is one of these apps that I vacillate back and forth with. Is it actually needed, or is this just some sort of Pavlov’s response to how desktops have trained us to think? Supposedly Android doesn't need to be cleaned or defragmented like desktops, yet we all still seem to think we should be doing ‘something’ as far as maintenance. I’m still on the fence with that, conceptually, but there’s certainly no harm in having an app like this.
The interface is very clean; bordering on sparse and underdeveloped. I think more could be cone to make this visually pleasing, as it is, it all kinda convinces me that apps like this truly aren't necessary. Essentially all this app does is calculate your storage use and give you an easy, one stop place to uninstall apps. But all of this can be done from your stock Android interface, so this app isn't actually offering anything particularly unique.
I like the visuals depicting your memory status. And the clear cache and browser history is nice. But again, most web browsers do this too. All functioned well, it just doesn't really do much of anything but offer a pseudo sense of maintenance and upkeep.
CCleaner is decent for what it is, but what it does and how it does it just isn't all that compelling to me. If you want a cleaner style app, personally I would recommend File Expert HD. It has all the same functionality as this one but adds more powerful features and useful functionality.
