Review Summoners War: Sky Arena
Looks good but doesn't go anywhere

Anime visuals, cool characters
Common, boring, greedy
Summoners War: Sky Arena for Android is a decent, strategy style quest. The play is a little common and uninspired but I think kids would like it since the play is methodical and the action is colorful and visually interesting.
Summoners War: Sky Arena has a familiar plot – protect your village, attack enemies in turn by turn style play, upgrade your warriors to make them bigger, badder and more ferocious. All that sounds good, but the game just doesn't go anywhere new or really offer much action. The visuals are excellent, but don't do much. The controls can be choppy, and as a whole, this feels more like a game you watch unfold, rather than truly experience for yourself. It all has a very strong fantasy feel to it that I think comic book fans will really love, and the heavy handed play would make this great for kids.
Evolve and upgrade your warriors and attack beasts, build up your village and prepare for battles against strange and vicious enemies out for blood. It’s all very familiar and done well enough, it’s just not very interesting or innovative if you've been down this road before. Fans of the genre will probably love it, but few will remember it for long. The battles are slow and belabored. And the auto fight mode itself suggests that no one is really meant to care about any of this.
This game made my battery and CPU run very hot, right quick. Frankly, there just isn't enough going on onscreen to justify the serious overload of system resources and battery kill. Something is working very hard in the background to make not much of anything happen onscreen. I think this game would be very difficult to get involved in without buying upgrades and spending money. This would be fine, in and of itself, if the game were enthralling. But as it is, it just comes off as greedy for what little you get back in terms of action and excitement.
Summoners War: Sky Arena has promise, but at the end of the day, is far to common and mediocre for my taste. It feels more like a Vegas slot machine; grabbing all the cash it can from your pockets while really not giving much of anything in return.
