Lacks landscape mode
AcDisplay for Android offers a very clean, modern and minimalist functionality to your lock screen. Easily see notifications, launch them or deal with them later with this chic and stylish app.
AcDisplay is what independent app development is all about. It was put together by a student who is clearly very talented, possessing a practical sensibility and sense of humor in their approach. The lock screen is quite beautifully done and knows the power behind simplicity. If a notification comes in, all you need do is glance at your lock screen to know what the hubbub is about, all without waking your device.
I love the Spartan design. Nothing is wasted or overdone. Just a simple and legible cock, with icons beneath it; touch the icons to expand the view and see more details, then swipe to launch or just set it aside for later. The dark default theme is beautiful and assures the least disruption to any situation. There’s nothing more rude than someone barely listening to you when you speak; paying more attention to their notifications that what’s right in front of them in the here and now. AcDisplay keeps you connected to what’s happening in your world without intruding or interrupting. There is an option to use your desktop’s image as the background to the lock screen, but I love the plain black default.
There are no ads and the developer charmingly depicts what your small donations may reward them with for all their hard work; a cup of coffee, a new computer, etc. This is the type of development and execution that merits a donation, because it asks for one with class; not a beggar’s nagging hand.
AcDisply is beautifully executed. If I had any criticism, it’s that I’d like to see landscape mode incorporated into the viewing mode. But aside from that, I’d say this is one of the best lock screens I’ve tried, and donating to the developer should be a pleasure, and only good manners. Very good job. Highly recommend.
