Review Next Browser
Fast mobile browser with nice tabs
Author: Jay Feldman
Date: 19 Apr 2017, tested on ASUS Nexus 7 (2013)
Functions quickly, intuitive interface
Lags a bit
Next Browser for Android is a snappy mobile web browser that actually lives up to the hype. This one is fast.
Next Browser is yet another browser app claiming to load web pages so fast, it'll make your head spin. Well, my head is still intact, but I am feeling a tad dizzy. I tested some typically intensive sites just to see how they compare, and Yahoo, CNN, ESPN and Amazon all loaded lightning fast. Really; no kidding. And the best part is, this app actually loads desktop sites too.
I loved the tabbed browsing because it opens up a horizontal list of icons depicting the latest view from the pages you're browsing. Just swipe to the left or right to move the list of open tabs, then touch the one you want to open; very fast, intuitive and user friendly. And naturally, the app supports Incognito browsing too.
Adding bookmarks could have been implemented a little better, but it's alright as is. Just swipe from the right edge of the screen to reveal a settings drawer, then hit the star icon on the bottom to bookmark. It works fine, I guess it just feels a little cumbersome because I'm used to seeing bookmark buttons near the top of the screen. But it's an easy adjustment that actually makes sense.
The app itself seemed snappy and only hung slightly on the rare occasion. The interface also features day and night modes, but rightly keeps the focus on the pages you're browsing, not it's own self-esteem.
Next Browser is actually quite good. The speeds are great and the interface makes sense. This one is so nice, I may just make the switch to it myself.
