Incredible sound design, low price, no ads, fun puzzle mechanics
Difficulty is a slow ramp, no rewards to earn
What’s a game with a fishing hook that doesn’t actually feature any fish? SiNKR for Android is a mobile puzzle game that has you using fishing hooks in order to solve puzzles. It’s sort of a novel concept that I haven’t seen pulled off before, and the overall atmosphere of the game, thanks to the dynamic sound design, really makes the game stand out and feel like it’s a great experience overall.
This unique puzzle game is more relaxing and thought provoking than anything else, which is a good thing. You’ll start off with a very simple puzzle that will teach you the game’s first mechanic, though it doesn’t teach you through conventional means. The objective of each level is to use fishing hooks to real balls into holes. As puzzles get more complicated, you’ll have to think in layers, often using multiple hooks in tandem in order to successfully move a ball where it needs to be.
One of the great things about this game is the fact that it continues to put new mechanics out there over time. For instance, you can also switch the sides of the hooks and you can switch the sides the balls end up on. You’ll need to take all of this into account in order to progress through some of the more difficult puzzles later on into the game.
It’s not clear how many puzzles are in the game. The design and UI is very minimalistic. The good news is that for a buck, you’ll get a completely ad-free experience. I didn’t have to be bothered with banner ads or annoying fullscreen video ads popping up and interrupting my gaming experience.
