Charming graphics, excellent music
Shallow clicking mechanics, no rebirth
Okay, so the best thing about Tap My Katamari - Idle Clicker for Android is that it’s set in the Katamari universe. Katamari has always been a clicker at heart. At least in some twisted way. The original game was about rolling over things so they would stick to your ball, eventually rolling up everything in your path so you became gigantic. This is a lot like that but on a slower scale.
This game is a clicker through and through. Every click you make will push your Katamari a certain distance. When you reach a certain distance you’ll pick up an object and get bigger. As you move you’ll also collect coins that can be used to upgrade your Katamari. Upgraded Katamaris will ensure you earn more coins and travel further distances with fewer clicks.
You can also use coins to buy cousins that will help you grow your Katamari. If you want to play this as an idle game then this is what you’ll want to focus on. It’s fun watching your Katamari grow but after a while you kind of begin to realize that’s all you’ll ever really do. There is nothing to repeat or do but grow bigger and bigger. I guess that’s true of all clickers, but this one doesn’t do as good a job at disguising it as others.
Tap My Katamari - Idle Clicker is a fun clicker. It has great music, good style and presentation, and it’s really charming. Unfortunately, it’s not real deep. You’ll click and upgrade but you don’t really get active skills the same way you do in many other clickers and there is no real rebirth mechanic either. What you see is what you get.
