Beautiful sound elements, great graphics, solid controls

Stack for Android is kind of a beautiful game. Historically, I can be very down on Ketchapp games, but every now and then they’ll throw one at me that really knocks it out of the park. It’s a really simple game that instills great sound elements and great style to create one of the more memorable arcade games.
Gameplay is relatively simple, but it’s a game best played with the sound turned on. Not because it’s got great music, but because of the way it uses sound. Throughout the game, tiles will slide over your stack of other tiles. Tapping on the screen will stop the tile and put it in place. You want to try and get the tile over the stack perfectly because if you don’t then the part of the tile not connected to the stack will fall off and you’ll be left with a smaller stack, meaning it will be more difficult to hit the now smaller target.
When you do get a perfect stack then a note from a scale will pop off and let you know. At this point, you’ll want to try and figure out the tempo at which the tiles are moving in because honing in on that will help you nail the placement of other tiles perfectly. And have I mentioned just how satisfying it is to hear the notes of the scale soar as your combo does too?
Stack is really one of the most self-rewarding arcade games I think I’ve played on the Android platform. It’s beautifully designed but really simple to play. The mechanics aren’t complex but they do take a bit to learn. It’s the perfect game to play on the go.
