Review Sky Chasers

Wonderful music, top tier retro graphics, fun gameplay
Expensive upgrades
As a child, getting a hold of a big cardboard box was usually one of the greatest gifts you could get. If you had a vivid enough imagination, you could literally imagine it would be anything you wanted. Sky Chasers for Android is an arcade game that captures that imagination as you guide a young boy through the skies, floating around from point to point in a cardboard box.
I’ll be completely honest, my favorite thing about this game is just how it looks. It’s like classic SNES graphics meets a Studio Ghibli movie. It’s really wonderful, imaginative, and fun. The animations are top notch, too.
The objective of the game is to just stay afloat and collect as many coins as you can while you’re out flying around. There’s nowhere in particular that you have to be, but the relaxing nature of the game makes you just want to fly around and explore forever. As you fly around you’ll notice a bar at the top start to deplete. This bar is essentially your gas, though it can be replaced by either collecting coins or landing on a platform.
Said platforms don’t just refill your fuel, though. You can also pay a bit of gold in order to make them checkpoints so if you die you don’t have to worry about starting from the very beginning of the game. This means you can actually progress and see the other worlds inside the game rather than repeatedly failing until you just get so frustrated you quit.
Sky Chasers is a fun game mostly because it’s just so relaxing to play. You can do so much simply because the game gives you the ability to pay for checkpoints. And the artwork is so great that simply playing it is fun to just watch.
