Review Atomi

Brandon Girod
8.8Excellent
Great graphics, no money grab, unique gameplay
The tutorial is a bit vague
To make a good puzzle game in a market that’s already full of them, you have to not only make it fun but you also have to nail its identity. These are two things that I think Atomi for Android completely nails, and while it’s asking for $2, it’s worth it.
So let’s jump into a quick rundown of what this game is. The core of the game involves trying to get your character from the starting point to the end of the level. The first few levels require you to literally just tap on the screen and watch the character move there. A bit further into the game, you’ll come across a level where you notice part of the ground is missing. Doing a quick search around the screen and you’ll find that you actually have the piece you need to complete it. And then you jump down the rabbit hole.
As you get further through the game, you’ll need to finish more and more of each level. You’ll eventually get to a point where it feels like you’re constructing the majority of the levels. You’ll begin to learn the ins-and-outs of the game, like that your character can’t jump and always needs to climb up or slide down a slope.
The look and feel, the gameplay, and the fact that there are legitimately no other money-grabbing schemes played up by the developer make Atomi a really great game to play. The developer gives you a path, but let’s you build that path however you want. If you’ve got the $2 to spare then don’t hesitate to pick this game up.
