Trial and error is frustrating
In most instances, finding the light is a figurative way of saying you’ve found some knowledge or have made it out of a rough patch. Litron for Android puts a more literal meaning on the term, however. It’s a crazy snake-inspired game that has you trudging through a dynamically moving level in an effort to reach the end of it.
The first few levels of this game are so easy you could literally do them with both eyes closed. It’s a way to soften you up and teach a bit of the basics. Then you’re thrown into a level where there is a moving border surrounding the light. What does that mean? It means that if you hit the border then you lose, so you have to make sure you follow a specific path that will sync up to a time where the light is borderless, and that’s much easier said than done.
I actually got a bit frustrated with this game because it’s so frustrating at times. When you first jump into a level, you have no idea how it works, and since your snake is always moving, you don’t really have the ability to just wait and get a feel for the level. So, instead, you have to die over and over again until you figure it out. I’m all for being difficult, but when an excessive amount of dying is involved then it stops being fun and that’s not good.
Litron has great style, but the gameplay left me high and dry. If you’re a glutton for punishment then you’ll probably find some enjoyment out of the game, but it’s definitely not for everyone.
