Fantastic graphics, in depth ways to care for your cats
Can't expand your hotel
If you’re a fan of cats then Cat Hotel for Android is the game to pick up. I was expecting a generic game where I spent all of my time building up rooms in a hotel that seemed to be never endless, but that’s not what this game is about at all.
This is a game literally all about taking care of cats. There is very little to do in terms of upgrading and expanding your “hotel,” which is much more like a typical house than anything else. When I first jumped into the real game (outside the tutorial) I was flabbergasted to find that the entire model was modeled in high resolution detail. Surprised because most games seem to take a more minimalist approach, but this game didn’t and it left an impression.
The game itself plays out in a series of quests that you’ll take on at the beginning of each day. You’ll get cats that will visit and it’s your job to examine them, see what they need, and then provide services to meet those needs. If that all sounds sort of odd, well, it kind of is. When you first get a cat, you’ll do a check up on it that presents a clipboard with stats. From here, you can see whether it needs food, a bath, or to be played with.
Throughout the day, you’ll need to do things like clean out the litter box, provide the cats with food, water, and entertainment. You’ll earn rewards for doing all of this stuff and this is where the upgrading and expansion comes in. It’s really more like decorating because you won’t be building a bigger house, you’ll just get nicer stuff to put into it.
Cat Hotel surprised me because it’s not just some throwaway game like I was expecting it to be. You get a full fledged game that is well put together and has plenty of content to see.
