Review Mad Puppet Racing -Big Up Hill

Brandon Girod
Progressive gameplay, good pacing, solid controls
Bad graphics, feels too similar to other games
Mad Puppet Racing-Big Hill for Android is a sort of endless racing game where you’re always thing to get the next carrot on the stick.
When people read that phrase, carrot on a stick, I feel like they have a negative connotation, but they shouldn’t. In fact, I prefer games lead me with exciting new things to play around with because it helps keep me invested long term. But there are some games that abuse this system. Fortunately, I believe this game offers a pretty nice balance.
The first time you jump into your truck, you’re not going to make it very far before you end up running out of gas. When that happens, your run is over and you’ve gotta start over again. Every time you finish a run you get currency that can be used for upgrades. So, my second run I had upgraded gas tanks and I ended up being able to go three times as long as before.
You can upgrade other parts of your vehicle such as handling and speed, but upgrading is still only part of the game. The other part consists of being able to adequately maintain balance while you’re driving. The driving feels a lot like a Trials game because you’re going over various terrain and need to make sure your truck stays right-side-up at all times. Flipping over means it’s game over.
Mad Puppet Racing-Big Hill didn’t leave me impressed visually. In fact, the artstyle is a bit of a turn off because it just looks so wacky. But I do think the gameplay is there and there is fun to be had.
